In an email to Kickstarter backers, Replay Games announced that the long awaited reboot of Leisure Suit Larry will be released June 27 at midnight PDT. After a successful crowd funded campaign one year ago that saw over 14,000 backers pledge over $650,000, the 1987 Sierra classic tale of a guy looking for love hits the screens again tonight as Leisure Suit Larry Reloaded.
Featuring a completely designed interface and soundtrack by Austin Wintory, the reboot is the culmination of a year of work by a dedicated group of developers, including original creator Al Lowe who wrote to Kickstarter backers:
N-Fusion hasn’t wasted the last few weeks; they’ve made improvements to the game everywhere. I can’t wait for you to see it. While I’m proud we did the right thing and waited to ship until all the bugs were exterminated, we did much, much more: hundreds of new sound effects, redesigned menus with new artwork, user interface improvements, and even additional voiceovers. This truly is the best Larry game we can bring you.
Designed in Unity3D, the multi-platform title will simultaneously release for PC, Mac, and Linux, via both Steam (update: the Steam version will launch at 10am PDT) and the Replay website, while the iOS version will hit iTunes when Apple is damn good and ready. An Android version will be following shortly.
Stay tuned for our review coming this weekend.
