steamthumbDay 3 of the Steam Summer Getaway Sale is underway with some great deals available in the ‘Daily Sales’ and the ‘Community Choice’ areas. Not sure where to begin? The Pixel Enemy staff weigh in once again with their choices and recommendations for the day.

Zarmena

Tomb-RaiderTomb Raider for $12.49 is a real bargain. It’s a solid AAA title, and one that only came out recently. But more importantly, it’s an excellent game that deserves every bit of praise that it got. I thoroughly enjoyed its single-player campaign, especially the combat and the stunning visuals.

My second recommendation is L.A. Noire, which is a steal for $3.74. A Team Bondi and Rockstar masterpiece, the game has a bit of a cult following. If you’re into the neo-noir genre, love mature storylines, or games set in history, then you can’t go wrong with this one.

Mack

Those who have yet to enjoy the new Tomb Raider have been missing out. The game combines a solid single-player experience with an… okay multiplayer. If you’re getting this because you want to invest $12.49 in some solo gaming, escaping into the world of Lara Croft is one of the best options available.

The-Witcher-2The Witcher 2 for $4.99 is a great price for those who still haven’t picked it up. Don’t worry if you get obliterated during the tutorial, as it’s a very difficult game with combat that takes some getting used to. Speaking of combat, I’d highly recommend checking out the “Full Combat Rebalance 2” mod, which is easy to install and vastly improves the gameplay.

L.A. Noire is very cheap… for those of you in the US. In the UK, however, it is priced at £4.99 ($7.50) and is probably worth a miss based purely on principle. Yes, I’m a tad bitter.

Day three brings with it one of the best daily deals so far. Tomb Raider is easily worth $12.49. Not only did I really enjoy the single player but I thought Lara Croft was a well thought out heroine. (Something we don’t see done well in games these days). The other Tomb Raider games are on sale as well. You can get every Tomb Raider game for $18, which is pretty awesome.

borderlands 2 season passBorderlands 2 is back on sale for $10, so if you haven’t picked it up yet (or missed day one of the sale) then you might want to hop on that. The Witcher 2: Assassins of the Kings – Enhanced Edition is $5 right now. If you love RPGs and rich stories, then I definitely recommend checking it out. It’s one of those games that’s going to give you (at least) 50+ hours of gameplay.

L.A Noire is also on sale for $5. For what you’re getting, that’s a great deal. Be careful though, the PC version of the game is easily the worst. Expect some bugs and technical hiccups throughout your adventure.

Finally, you should check out Surgeon Simulator 2013. Some games try to be funny, while others are just down right hilarious on their own merits. Surgeon Simulator 2013 is one of those games. You can’t help but smile throughout the whole time you’re playing it. That smile is definitely worth $3.39.

headerThere aren’t so many good deal on for today’s sale but I would definitely grab Tomb Raider and if you are interested it might be a good option to get Borderlands 2 as well. For me Tomb Raider was a surprise game for the series and a possible GOTY from me. I went into it a bit skeptical but in the end it was a “holy shit that game was soooo good.”

I’m not really a fan of Borderlands 2 but if you’re on yourself it’s definitely worth picking this up at its current price. A few flash sales that are of note at the minute are probably L.A. Noire and Battlefield: Bad Company 2. I’ve not played the former but I’ve heard its a solid title, as for BF:BC2 I’d definitely recommend picking that up, multiplayer is still fairly active and it has a good single-player campaign to go along with it as well.

Rob

laMy feelings echo the rest of the team with Tomb Raider and L.A. Noire being my recommendations for purchase. Not only are they significantly discounted, they are great games in their own way. L.A. Noire is a groundbreaking game for Rockstar and the interviews with suspects and witnesses are what totally make the game. I enjoyed it thoroughly…and I have to admit I gifted it to two of the writers above earlier this evening. Shazam!

The Community Choice ends in four hours from the time of press, and get your votes in for Anti-chamber or Universe Sandbox. Both are great deals, but you really can’t beat Universe Sandbox for $2.00.

Catch us again tomorrow for the Day 4 tips and recommendations, and let us know in the comments if you agree with our choices or feel we missed a few.

The Steam Sale continues until July 22nd.
